Frequent Asked Questions

Q. I'm having trouble with SiteWorx, where can I get help?

A. Please use our community forums for any problems you might have.  Please DO NOT call up Ubiquity (our parent company), e-mail Ubiquity, or PM forum admins, or stalk our staff members at home. None of the above will get you help here.  While we value every member of our free hosting community; this is the only way we can provide quality support free of charge.

Q. I want to make a website, but I have no idea what I'm doing. Where do I start?

A. Learning HTML is easy and fun!!!! We recommend reading up at HTML Goodies or w3 Schools to get started. You can also use an HTML editor to do the work for you (i.e. Microsoft FrontPage or Macromedia Dreamweaver). If you plan to go that route, we recommend downloading NVU - which, like our service, is both free an open source.

Q. How do I upload my web site?

A. After you've saved a .html page or two, you'll want to upload them to your account. You can do this either in the SiteWorx file manager (available at http://yoursite/siteworx, or on the main page of our site). You can also access our servers through FTP, provided you've downloaded some FTP software such as SmartFTP. To make sure a file appears at the root of your site, be sure to save it as 'index.html' and place it in the HTML folder on your account.

Q. What if I want my account deleted?

A. In the event that you are not in your right mind and decide you'd be better off without your FWH account; simply delete all files. Every few months we will run maintenance scripts which cleanse old abandoned accounts to help us keep things running smoothly and effeciently.

Q. How can this great hosting be free?

A. We make money each time you click on a text ad.  We also accept donations. It's the volume and good will of our member base that keeps our free webmaster community strong. For a full list of the ways to help FreeWebsiteHost.net - visit the contribute page.

Q. Should I take a break from reading this and click on an ad?

A. Yes.

Q. How many accounts can I have?

A. Everyone should have one account with FreeWebsiteHost.  No more, no less.

Q. I'm glad you don't make me put ad's on my website.  Can I put them there if I like though?
